Into the Machine

Pilot a small drone through cramped and twisting tunnels and machinery to find and extract a 'Nucleus' then escape back the way you came before the security lockdown traps your ship.

Features

Nucleus gives you '6 degrees of freedom' in this flying, first-person, high speed race against time. Fly along twisting tunnels avoiding obstacles while the clock ticks down, once you secure the Nucleus you must reach the exit before time runs out.

Control your drone with the keyboard and mouse or with a gamepad.

About Nucleus

This game was made for Godot Wild Jam 37 in just over a week and is my second completed project, and the first where I produced all the assets - so it was as much a Blender project as a Godot one. The jam theme was "Into the Machine" which I tried to represent as the player's ship exploring the twisting insides of some unknown machine, but it also inspired me to put a little 'Tron' spin on it visually.

The game ended up a little different than the original concept but I am really satisfied with the gameplay. Try it out and see what you think. I had hoped to add more varied enemy types and rooms to shoot it out in, more variety in the levels, and more weapons. But it's a Jam and it is what it is. Enjoy!

The game has been tested on Windows only but Mac and Linux versions are available. Please let me know if you find any issues with these. There has also been little time for optimization so it may not run well on lower end hardware.

GOOD GAME DEV

I can't seem to open the first nucleus... the targets randomly exploded and it did not open

I didn't encounter that issue on playtesting. Did you shoot all the red lights not just the sentries? I may not have made that obvious enough.

ah no, I thought it was just the sentries

My bad, was developed in a bubble with only my 9 year old "shoot all the things" as playtester. Lessons learned.

alright, just finished it! great visuals, love the movement!

5/5 in my book, with more levels could 100% be a full game. Understandably though, one level that's already pretty large and detailed, plus all the other systems... for one person, that's already a lot

There's a little replay in the levels being randomly generated and the length adjustable but the diversity of pieces isn't there. I appreciate the feedback so much.
